Description Life zones and habitat: Foothills to subalpine. Moist areas, streambanks to open hillsides.
Plant: Upright perennial 1 to 5 feet tall; four-sided stems.
Leaves: Ovate leaves with toothed edges, smooth on top, light green on bottom, oppositely-attached.
Inflorescence: Small white to purplish flowers in a dense terminal (end of stem) spike, each with two pairs of stamens projecting beyond petals.
