Description Life zones and habitat: Montane. Moist, shady areas.
Plant: Slow-growing herbaceous subshrub growing 4 to 8 inches tall, generally forming a carpet-like mat, stems slender and unbranched.
Leaves: Clusters of 6 opposite stem leaves, 2 larger blades 1-1/2 to 2 inches long and 4 smaller blades.
Inflorescence: Multiple very tiny white flowers less than 1/10 inch across with 4 petals, surrounded by four large showy white bracts, broadly ovate and 1/3 to 1/2 inch long with parallel veins.
