Description Life zones and habitat: Montane to alpine. Woodlands, openings, meadows.
Plant: Erect perennial up to 10 inches tall; leafy stems.
Leaves: Spatulate basal leaves in a rosette; stem leaves are alternate and clasping.
Inflorescence: White to purplish flowers in a raceme atop each stem, each about 1/4-inch across with yellow stamens.
