Description Life zones and habitat: Foothills to alpine; gravelly, rocky areas, tundra.
Plant: Short erect perennial to 3 inches tall, stout hairy stems.
Leaves: Basal, linear-oblanceolate to oblong or elliptic leaves, 3/8 to 2-3/4 inches long, covered with fine hairs.
Inflorescence: Clusters of tiny golden yellow flowers, each less than 1/4-inch across, with protruding stamens and styles.
