| Description |
Life zones and habitat: Alpine (11500 to 14000 ft.); moist turf, scree, often in shaded sparsely vegetated soil.
Plant: Biennial or short-lived perennial with reddish tentacle-like stolons; solitary clumps of single erect stems up to 6 inches tall with glandular hairs. Leaves: Fleshy basal rosette and alternate stem leaves, sessile; blades elliptic-obovate, 1/4 to 3/4-inch long; smooth surfaces and edges smooth or with glandular hairs. Inflorescence: Clusters of 1 to 3, or as many as 5, flowers with 5 broad obovate yellow, not spotted petals; sepals elliptic or oblong-ovate with hairy glands and purplish tips.
